On May 1, 2024, British Columbia will observe the one-year anniversary of regulations governing short-term rentals, which were implemented across communities with populations exceeding 10,000. These regulations stipulate that short-term rentals are permissible only in principal residences, secondary suites, or auxiliary structures such as laneway houses situated on the property. The announcement regarding these regulations was made by Housing Minister Ravi Kahlon during an event in Burnaby, B.C.
