A big rig carrying lithium ion batteries overturned in San Pedro, causing a fire and reportedly leading to at least one battery exploding. The crash took place on 940 N. Seaside Ave., resulting in a significant traffic jam on the 47 Freeway and Vincent Thomas Bridge. The Los Angeles Fire Department stated that the batteries were damaged, ignited, and emitting gas, with one battery confirmed to have exploded.
