Bangladesh’s interim government is intensifying scrutiny over power agreements signed during former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s tenure by recommending the appointment of an international investigative agency to review major energy contracts, including one involving India’s Adani Group. The review committee is evaluating seven significant energy projects, notably the Adani Godda 1234.4 MW coal-fired plant, amid separate allegations of fraud against Adani in the United States. Concerns are raised over the plant’s future as an amendment allows Adani to sell power domestically, potentially affecting Bangladesh’s access to a dedicated supply.
