Bafta-winning star lands role in new TV series Robin Hood – weeks after hit period drama was brutally axed

Actor Sean Bean is set to star in a new TV series for MGM+ portraying the classic British hero Robin Hood, with Bean taking on the role of the villain Sheriff of Nottingham. The 10-episode series will also feature Australian newcomer Jack Patten as Robin Hood, in a historic retelling of the iconic story. This new role for Bean comes after his previous period drama Shardlake was cancelled after just one season, leaving fans disappointed despite its critical acclaim and high ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.
