Australia is shifting $119 million in foreign aid to prioritize the Pacific, with three-quarters of aid going to the Indo-Pacific to fill gaps left by US aid cuts. The funding will focus on essential health services, climate action, and economic resilience, with an increase of $136 million in development assistance by 2025/26. Despite some delays in other programs, Australia aims to maintain its role as a partner of choice for Pacific Island nations and advocate for the region to the US.
