Auckland man who illegally killed and sold pigs fined $8,000

Peni Naivaluvou, 64, was fined $8,000 in the Papakura District Court for illegally slaughtering and selling pigs and a chicken in violation of the Animal Products Act. His unregistered home kill business operated unlawfully, bypassing food safety standards and inspections. Despite a Notice of Direction to cease operations, Naivaluvou continued to sell animals, prompting New Zealand Food Safety to take legal action to protect consumer safety and uphold their international reputation.
