In October 2017, Bradley Rhoton, a 43-year-old software marketer in Boston, began experiencing a whistling sound while inhaling, leading him to seek medical help. After being diagnosed with a deviated septum and undergoing surgery that included the removal of turbinates, Rhoton faced worsening symptoms such as nasal congestion, fatigue, and anxiety, ultimately visiting 17 doctors over nearly six years before receiving a correct diagnosis and solution. He expressed disbelief at the extended struggle to find help for his debilitating condition, which significantly impacted his daily life.
