Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz suffered a shocking opening defeat to Casper Ruud at the ATP Finals in Turin, as Ruud secured a 6-1 7-5 victory in 86 minutes. Despite Alcaraz’s lacklustre performance, Ruud capitalized on his chances and cited Alcaraz’s illness as a factor in the match. Alcaraz, who won the French Open and Wimbledon titles this year, is aiming to become the first Spaniard to win the year-ending title since 1998.
