Kim Leadbeater, the MP leading the issue of assisted dying legislation in England and Wales, is confident that the postponement of the next vote by three weeks will not delay the bill reaching royal assent. The bill, which has seen numerous changes since the initial vote in November, will now return to the Commons on 16 May for its report stage and votes if time allows, instead of the previously scheduled 25 April. The delay is intended to give MPs more time to consider the changes and ensure a thorough examination of the legislation before moving forward.
