Labour MP Naz Shah turns on Kim Leadbeater’s ‘fundamentally flawed’ assisted dying bill

Labour MP Naz Shah, originally in favor of assisted dying legislation, now claims the bill has weaker safeguards following committee scrutiny, labeling it “fundamentally flawed”. Despite 393 amendments proposed by opposing MPs, only 32 were accepted, including those from sponsor Kim Leadbeater for a new Voluntary Assisted Dying Commission. Leadbeater highlighted public support and emphasized the importance of strong protections in the bill.
