Ashburton earns advanced welcoming community status

Ashburton District Council achieved Advanced Welcoming Community status by showcasing inclusive leadership and development opportunities for newcomers, becoming one of two councils in the country to do so. The council’s focus on creating spaces for fellowship and encouraging integration of newcomers into the community has led to positive outcomes, with the goal of making Ashburton feel like home for all residents. The council is now working on the 2024 Welcoming Communities plan to further enhance the welcoming environment for newcomers in the district.
