Class A No. 8 and sectional host Tri won the Sectional 59 softball title against South Decatur Lady Cougars with a final score of 7-5, after a challenging game. Tri, led by a strong performance from Keirra Mettert and Becca Sherwood, built an early 3-0 lead and extended it to 7-1 by the fifth inning, but South fought back with a series of runs in the sixth. Despite South’s efforts, including Lilly Murray’s inside-the-park home run, Tri held on for the victory and will advance to face Milan in the regional on Tuesday.
