Iranian nurses treating protesters reportedly faced torture

Two nurses in Tehran, who treated injured anti-government protesters, have alleged severe abuse, including torture and rape, while in custody of Iranian security forces. Both women suffered significant internal injuries requiring major surgeries; one had part of her intestine removed and the other underwent a hysterectomy. Reports indicate that security forces also threatened medical staff at their hospital, and families were coerced into paying for their release while being forced to sign statements denying the abuse. These claims add to ongoing international concerns about the treatment of detainees in Iran amid crackdowns on dissent.
