An 8-year-old girl from North Waziristan, Aina Wazir, gained international fame after a video of her cricket bowling went viral, attracting the attention of professional players. However, the footage put her father, Omar Wazir, in danger; he was abducted and killed following a terrorist attack linked to a vehicle he previously owned. The cameraman, Zafran Wazir, who filmed Aina, was also kidnapped by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan but later released after being tortured. Aina remains safe and has called for improved educational opportunities for girls.
