Iran, alongside other hostile entities, is reportedly plotting to assassinate Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, according to IDF sources. This warning coincides with renewed Israeli-Syrian contacts and heightened regional tensions, indicating that Sharaa is under significant threat and is enhancing his security. The Israeli defense establishment stresses the necessity of maintaining an IDF presence in Syria as a protective measure for border communities. Recent discussions led by Defense Minister Israel Katz reaffirmed the stance against withdrawing from Syrian territory, particularly around the Mount Hermon region.
