A large group of civilians attacked a UN patrol in southern Lebanon on Friday, damaging vehicles but causing no injuries. The UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) stated that the patrol was on a routine operation, and the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) escorted the troops back to base after being notified. UNIFIL emphasized that its mandate under UN Security Council Resolution 1701 guarantees freedom of movement in its operational area, regardless of LAF accompaniment.
