Iran’s Willingness for a Nuclear Deal
Iran is open to negotiating a deal with the US in exchange for lifting economic sanctions, as stated by Ali Shamkhani, a political adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran would commit to never pursuing nuclear weapons, eliminate its stockpiles of highly-enriched uranium, limit enrichment for civilian use, and allow international inspections. Shamkhani also expressed concerns about Israeli interference in the negotiations, emphasizing that removing “the Bibi effect” could facilitate an agreement following recent talks in Oman.
