The body of American journalist Austin Tice was reportedly found in a cemetery in northern Syria, after being kidnapped in Damascus in August 2012, according to sources. Tice, a freelance journalist who worked with various news outlets, had been missing for over a decade, with his mother stating in May that the U.S. government was aware of his whereabouts. Meanwhile, a Qatari mission has begun searching for the remains of U.S. hostages killed by the Islamic State in Syria, as the group infamously beheaded many captives during its peak from 2014-2017.
