Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer led Israel’s negotiating team in Cairo for talks with Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Mahmoud Rashad regarding a potential hostage deal, following a Hamas delegation’s visit. Egyptian sources reported a “significant breakthrough” in ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, with a consensus on a long-term ceasefire, though issues regarding Hamas arms remain. Despite reports of progress, Israeli officials stated there is currently “no real progress” in the negotiations.
