Apple is trying to get ‘LLM Siri’ back on track

Apple’s AI efforts have struggled since the release of initial features last year, leading to plans for a complete overhaul of Siri, now referred to as ‘LLM Siri.’ The company faced challenges including late entry into AI, reluctance to invest in necessary technology, and ineffective integration of generative AI with the existing Siri framework. To address these issues, Apple is developing a new architecture for Siri, utilizing on-device data synthesis, and exploring partnerships for AI search capabilities, while John Giannandrea has been removed from relevant projects.
