The American Bar Association has voted to suspend its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) standard for law schools due to the Trump administration’s efforts to eliminate DEI programs. The council of the ABA Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar paused Rule 206 until Aug. 31 to review proposed revisions in response to recent actions by the Trump administration. The move aims to ensure compliance with the law amidst threats of funding cuts and executive orders targeting DEI in the federal government and private sector.
