Carney labeled the idea as “crazy” and stated that Canada is not America, while also expressing respect for President Trump and the United States. The prime minister’s remarks came in response to Trump’s earlier remarks and tariffs imposed on Canada, as well as similar comments made by Greenland’s outgoing prime minister regarding Trump’s proposal for Greenland to become U.S. property.
