Pearson’s accusations have led to criticism towards Essex Police, with claims that the investigation was upgraded to an offense under the Public Order Act. However, Essex Police clarified that the investigation was always into an alleged criminal offense and not an NCHI, releasing bodyworn video footage transcript to counter what they described as “false reporting.”
