Zachariah Adam Quraishi, a 21-year-old Canadian Army reservist from Airdrie, Alberta, was released from service on July 10, 2024, and traveled to Israel shortly thereafter. On July 22, he allegedly attempted a terrorist attack in Netiv Ha’asara, armed with a knife, and was shot dead by Israeli guards after failing to comply with warnings. His father claimed Quraishi aimed to save lives and criticized the Israeli response, alleging wrongful targeting. This incident has raised concerns about rising antisemitic extremism in Canada and the influence of radical ideologies.
