ISIS-K member Mohammad Sharifullah, accused of plotting the 2021 Abbey Gate bombing that killed 13 U.S. military members and 160 civilians in Afghanistan, has been extradited to the U.S. to face charges of providing material support to a designated terrorist organization resulting in death. President Donald Trump announced Sharifullah’s capture and extradition during a speech to Congress, revealing his involvement in scouting the attack route and training gunmen. The bombing occurred at Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport, with Sharifullah confessing to assisting in the attack after being contacted by ISIS-K members upon his release from prison in Afghanistan.
