The Scottish government has confirmed that all pensioners in Scotland will receive a winter fuel payment next year, with those on Pension Credit getting £200 or £300, and others receiving £100. Due to a delay in the introduction of a new benefit, the payment will not be available until late 2025, resulting in an estimated 900,000 pensioners missing out this winter. Additional support measures have been announced, including a £41m package and funding for homelessness prevention work, in response to criticism from opposition parties.
