Perth’s Alex Condon played a crucial role in leading Florida to victory in the US college basketball championship game, contributing 12 points, seven rebounds, and four steals as his team overcame a 12-point deficit to beat Houston 65-63. Condon made key defensive plays in the final moments of the game, helping force a turnover and sealing the win by diving on a loose ball. The 20-year-old, who is also a ‘category B’ rookie at AFL club Collingwood, became just the fifth Australian to feature in the NCAA men’s championship game, following in the footsteps of Andrew Gaze, Luke Schenscher, Mangok Mathiang, and Kody Stattmann.
