Alabama man executed for 1997 store clerk murder

An Alabama man, Geoffrey Todd West, was executed by nitrogen gas on Thursday for the 1997 murder of Margaret Parrish Berry during a gas station robbery. Despite appeals for clemency from Berry’s son, who forgave West, Governor Kay Ivey upheld the death sentence, stating justice was served for the execution-style killing of Berry, who was shot in the back of the head.
