Rep. Al Green, a Democrat from Texas, was removed from President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address for the second consecutive year after he held up a sign reading “Black people aren’t apes!” and refused to comply with requests to sit down. This incident followed a similar outburst in 2025, when Green was ejected for shouting during Trump’s speech. Green, a vocal critic of Trump, expressed willingness to face consequences for his protests against proposed cuts to Medicaid and Social Security.
