Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav and other party MPs staged a protest outside Parliament in New Delhi, alleging large-scale rigging by the ruling BJP in the Milkipur Assembly by-election with assistance from the administration, accusing the Election Commission of India of being complicit and failing to prevent malpractice. The SP MPs symbolically carried a white funeral shroud with ‘Election Commission’ imprinted atop, criticizing the EC’s conduct and accusing the BJP of seizing power against public opinion, submitting nearly 500 complaints of rigging and misconduct which the EC allegedly failed to address, leading to a voter turnout of 57.13% in the byelection held on February 5.

Medha Patkar arrested in defamation case after Delhi court issues non-bailable warrant
