Airbus is implementing an urgent software change across a significant portion of its A320 family jets, affecting thousands of aircraft globally, due to potential data corruption from solar radiation linked to a recent incident involving a JetBlue flight. This recall, one of the largest in Airbus’s history, must be completed before the next routine flight, risking travel disruptions during a peak travel period. While two-thirds of the affected jets will require brief groundings for the fix, some may need hardware changes leading to longer delays. Approximately 3,000 A320 jets were operational following the announcement, with American Airlines reporting that around 340 of its jets require the update.
