Air India pilot hailed a ‘hero’ after saving ‘hundreds of people’ in last moments of his life

Captain Sumeet Sabharwal of Air India has been celebrated as a hero for his last-minute diversion of flight AI171, preventing a catastrophic crash into a residential area in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, resulting in 270 fatalities. Despite his efforts saving many lives, including those in nearby buildings, he tragically lost his life in the incident along with First Officer Clive Kunder.
