Claudia Fimbres, owner of Mamacita Latin Kitchen and Market in Mount Pearl, fell victim to a scam after unknowingly signing up for a fake holiday market that cost her $150. After initially paying for a booth and additional fees, she discovered the event was fraudulent, created by scammers using imagery from a legitimate market. Fortunately, the real Merry Makers Market organizers invited her to participate after learning about her experience. The RNC advises business owners to be cautious of payments to unknown entities and to report suspicious online activities.
