Africa: Defence Minister Urges East Africa Security Chiefs to Use All Means to Realise Peace in Region

Rwanda’s minister of defence, Juvenal Marizamunda, urged Eastern Africa Standby Force chiefs of defence staff to enhance regional response mechanisms and work together to achieve peace and security. At the 33rd policy organs meeting in Kigali, partnerships among member states were praised, with a focus on adapting to evolving conflicts and promoting stability in the region and continent. The EASF, celebrating its 20th anniversary, consists of 10 member states and aims to enhance peace and security through rapid deployment forces for preventive and peace support operations within the region.
