The Burundi Red Cross has established a humanitarian service point at the Rugombo Stadium near the DRC border, offering shelter and aid to 40,000 refugees, including 18,000 children, fleeing conflict. A team of 500 volunteers provide first aid, mental health support, sanitation, clean water, and food, with ambulances evacuating over 120 for further medical care. Additional efforts include reuniting families and preventing drownings at the Rusizi River, with expert spokespeople available in Burundi, the DRC, and Geneva.
