Despite Africa’s potential to feed the global population, food security remains a significant challenge, with over 800 million people experiencing food insecurity globally and 21% of Africa’s population facing food shortages. Initiatives like ‘The Thousand African Youth Summit 2024’ in Addis Ababa aim to address these issues through agro ecological entrepreneurship and technological innovations, highlighting the importance of prioritizing food self-sufficiency for sustainable development. Efforts to enhance agricultural investment, mechanization, and fertilizer usage in countries like Ethiopia are crucial in achieving food sovereignty and combating the impacts of climate change.
