WHO expert Dr Jean de Dieu Iragena discusses the need to bring advanced technologies closer to people to effectively manage challenges like MDR-TB. Advances in rapid molecular diagnostic methods like GeneXpert and genome sequencing, along with enhanced treatment protocols, are key to controlling TB. Countries and individuals can avert MDR-TB by implementing new treatment regimens and ensuring early diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Funding mechanisms must be sustained to continue progress in TB control efforts.
