Confirming the development, AAP leader and Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said,”The dialogues are still open in Assam…”

“AAP and Congress will campaign together at all the places where both parties’ candidates and candidates from other parties of INDIA Alliance will contest,” Wasnik said.

Following the announcement, Mumtaz Patel, daughter of late Congress leader Ahmed Patel — a three-time MP from Bharuch — apologised to party cadre for not being able to “secure” the seat. According to media reports, Mumtaz’s brother, Faisal Patel was aspiring a Congress ticket from the same seat.

“Deeply apologize to our district cadre for not being able to secure the Bharuch Lok Sabha seat in alliance.I share your disappointment. Together, we will regroup to make INC stronger. We won’t let Ahmed Patel’s 45 years of Legacy go in vain,” Mumtaz said in a post on X.

However, the Congress party said, “The parties have to make decisions after assessing every situation and discussing with everyone. So, a decision has been made.”

The I.N.D.I.A bloc partners, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress announced their alliance in Haryana and Gujarat on Sunday for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Earlier this week, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said that talks for seat sharing in the national capital were in “final stages” and that the tie up between the two parties would be announced soon.

On being asked about the possibility of an alliance with the Congress in Delhi, the Delhi CM had said, “It is much delayed, it should have happened much earlier. Let us see what happens in the next one-two days.”

On Wednesday the grand old party announced its alliance with Samajwadi Party wherein they agreed on a seat sharing arrangement in Uttar Pradesh with Congress contesting on 17 seats while the SP will field candidates on the remaining 63 seats.
