Ordnance from Syria's 13-year conflict explodes in port city, killing at least 16

In Lattakia, Syria, ordnance from the ongoing 13-year conflict exploded, killing over a dozen people and injuring 18 others. The White Helmets recovered 16 bodies, including women and children, from the collapsed building where the explosion occurred. The United Nations reported that over 1,400 unexploded devices have been disposed of in Syria since the ouster of Bashar Assad, with Lattakia experiencing a surge in violence and retaliatory attacks following a government counter-offensive against insurgents.
