2 days of clashes and revenge killings in Syria leave more than 600 people dead

The death toll from clashes between security forces and Assad loyalists in Beirut has surpassed 600, with revenge killings targeting Alawites following the removal of Assad from power. Sunni Muslim gunmen have carried out attacks on Alawite civilians, resulting in widespread violence and destruction in the region. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported 428 Alawites, 120 pro-Assad fighters, and 89 security forces members killed in the retaliation, making it one of the deadliest incidents in the 14-year conflict.
