3 Bulgarians convicted of spying for Russia across Europe from base in UK

Three Bulgarian nationals based in Britain were convicted in London of spying for Russia on an industrial scale, carrying out surveillance across Europe between 2020 and 2023. Katrin Ivanova, Vanya Gaberova, and Tihomir Ivanov Ivanchev were found guilty after denying involvement in the plot and claiming they were misled by their superiors. The spy ring also included Orlin Roussev and Biser Dzhambazov, who pleaded guilty to espionage charges and having false identity documents, with Roussev allegedly directed by Jan Marsalek, an Austrian national linked to Russian intelligence agencies.
