Beloved seaside fish and chip shop announces shock closure after 30 years

After 30 years in business, Martella’s, a beloved family-run fish and chip shop in Essex, has announced its closure, to be replaced by “The CodFather” on March 6. The decision was made due to the family getting older, with a new family taking over the business. Similarly, another popular chippy in Manchester, The Hip Hop Chip Shop, also closed after a decade, citing financial pressures and the impact of Brexit and Covid.
