Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the reinstatement of the “foreign terrorist organization” designation for Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi group, imposing sanctions for supporting them due to attacks on commercial vessels and U.S. service members. The State Department’s Rewards for Justice program offered up to $15 million for disrupting Houthi financing, while the United Nations suspended humanitarian operations in Yemen after the rebels detained U.N. staffers, amid ongoing conflict with the internationally recognized government and Saudi-led coalition.
