US President Donald Trump’s new 25 per cent tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, along with a doubling of duties on Chinese goods to 20 per cent, have sparked trade conflicts with the top three US trading partners. The tariff actions, aimed at addressing the flow of fentanyl opioid, have led to immediate retaliatory measures from Canada and Mexico. China has also responded with additional tariffs and export restrictions, further escalating tensions and raising fears of an economic recession.
