Israel has adopted the framework of US Presidential envoy Steve Witkoff for a temporary ceasefire during the Ramzan and Passover period, following a security discussion chaired by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defence Minister, and senior security officials. The decision includes releasing half of the living and deceased hostages on the first day, with the remaining to be released upon agreement on a permanent ceasefire. The agreement allows Israel to resume fighting after 42 days if negotiations prove ineffective, with support from previous US administrations and the Trump administration.
