Two esteemed British museums, the British Museum and Science Museum, have defended their partnerships with BP despite calls to cut ties following the oil and gas giant’s announcement of reducing investments in renewable energy. BP has signed a £19.8bn deal with Iraq for oil and gasfields, while cutting renewable energy investment by £3.95bn annually. The British Museum signed a 10-year partnership with BP for £50m in 2023, sparking criticism from environmental groups but the museum has stated it has no plans to change its partnership.
