Gursharan Singh, Balwinder Singh, and Vishal Sharma from Punjab were among the 15,756 Indian immigrants deported from the U.S. since 2009, after trying to enter illegally. Despite aspirations for a better life abroad, Sharma now lives in his village, resigned to a life of farming, after being forced to return and facing the reality of limited opportunities for legal migration to the U.S. due to recent deportations.
