An upcoming review on online pornography, led by Conservative peer Baroness Gabby Bertin, is expected to recommend banning degrading, violent, and misogynistic content, including depictions of non-consensual choking. The review aims to address the normalization of harmful behavior on mainstream platforms and proposes stricter regulations under the Online Safety Act to protect users, especially children, from accessing harmful content. The government is urged to give Ofcom new powers to prosecute platforms that do not comply with removing harmful material and to implement age verification measures for all pornographic websites by July.
