UN food agency pauses aid to famine-hit Sudan displacement camp of half a million people

The World Food Program has paused aid distribution in Sudan’s Zamzam displacement camp due to intensified fighting, warning that thousands could starve without immediate assistance. The conflict between the military and a paramilitary group has forced aid partners to leave, leaving thousands of families at risk of starvation. The camp, previously declared in famine, is facing challenges in receiving humanitarian aid due to fighting, road conditions, and purposeful obstruction by the paramilitary group RSF.
