A sweeping power blackout leaves most of Chile in darkness

A widespread power outage in Chile caused chaos and disruptions in daily life, with millions of people left without electricity for hours. The blackout led to internet and mobile phone service outages, suspension of mining operations, water shortages, and transportation issues. The government declared a state of emergency and imposed a curfew to ensure safety. The cause of the disruption in the high-voltage transmission line remains unknown. Emergency generators were used to keep essential services like hospitals and government offices running. Evacuations were carried out in darkened tunnels and subway stations.
